"Enjoy family dishes at our family restaurant"

The 1940s were a time of great change in the United States. It was in this environment that Johnny and Mary Metcalf took over a 30-year-old diner called Oakwood Cafe and moved it to Culyer Street in Dalton, Georgia, where it still operates today.

In 60 years, not much has remained the same in America, but one thing holds true: people enjoy a great homemade meal in a family friendly restaurant. Oakwood Cafe provides the ideal setting for both. Each meal starts with your choice of a wide selection of some of the best meats around, including Georgia's finest BBQ, and all are served with the perfect complement of your choice of homemade southern vegetables and sides. One taste and you will understand why we say with confidence, "If you don't feel like family, let us know."

A Higher Mission

There was a time in America where Sunday was a day of rest, a day spent at church and with family and friends. It was a day to reflect on what was really important in life and to recharge your batteries. Oakwood Cafe was founded with these traditional values and they continue to be our guiding principle today.

Our mission is to be a community meeting and eating place serving fresh, homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner in a family restaurant with the utmost purpose: to glorify God. Closing on Sunday is one of the ways that our Oakwood Cafe locations honor God.

Active Involvement

Active involvement in the community, charitable organizations, and local churches is equally important. Every location is required to host charitable functions during the year as a method of giving back to the community that supports them. In addition to this, hosting local fundraisers for community organizations and sharing the profits is yet another way Oakwood Cafe proves they are committed to both God's Word and a thriving community.

Ultimately, Oakwood Cafe can, under the right team, become a place that is more than a restaurant. It can become a place where the dreams and hopes of families and communities are strengthened and supported.
